"Elephants Almost Never Forget" is the second half of the first episode in the first season.

Summary[]

One day, Diamonds goes to practice her exercises, while doing so she smells a peanut. Unfortunately, when she tries to reach it, she bumps her head against a poll and gets amnesia so she wanders into town. Consequently, she meets the unscrupulous Lyman Slime who is busy replacing Jack's posters with ones for his circus--the Slime Carnival. When she asks for his help, he recognizes her and takes the opportunity to give her a new name Ella Broadbottom and convinces her that she works at his carnival. When Marvin and friends discover she's missing (after finding her tent completely ransacked, they organize a search party. The Slime Clowns leave a trail of her clothes behind for the friends to follow. After gathering the path, they discover a billboard with Diamonds on it. The friends are shocked by this and decide to go and bring her back home. However, they remember what Lyman would say: "The competition stays out. Scram!" so they wear disguises (mainly beards) and look for her. It isn't until after they arrive that learn Diamonds has amnesia but with the help of her friends, Diamonds' regains her memory especially after she sees Elizabeth crying after she managed to roll on a circus ball into the center ring and cry for her humiliation. They gather up her possessions, rip her face off the poster and head home. Eddy is about to tell Diamonds that she still has clown make up on but Stripes assures him that she'll figure it out once she goes home to her mirror.

  • This is the first time Fast-Talking Jack is absent for one half of an episode.
  • This episode also introduces the carnival's competition, the Slime Carnival, a clown circus run by Lyman Slime.
